1. Decorating the Tent

Many brides focus on the interior decor of your wedding tent, but don’t forget to decorate the actual tent! Use draping to hide the tent poles. Try hanging colored fabric on the ceiling of the tent to complement your color scheme and accent the shape of the tent.

2. Think Outside the Box

In addition to decorating the tent, you should also remember to decorate the space outside the tent. Try creating a pathway that leads to the entrance of the tent. Some great options are petals, candles, and fabric. Consider putting an archway right at the entrance so guests know where to enter the venue. You can also create a outdoor photo shoot scene for your guests! Try creating a lounge or patio for them to enjoy the sun as well.

3. Suspended Decor

Tent weddings are great because they have so much potential. You can transform the venue to match any theme. Fill the high, empty space of tent weddings with decor to create your wedding atmosphere. 4. Lighting
Lighting is a must for outdoor weddings. Once the sun goes down, you will need to provide your own lighting. The question is, will you use natural lighting, artificial lighting, or both? There are limitless lighting options to complement your decor, so don’t be afraid to mix and match! Candles are a great option for natural lighting, but they may be unreliable because their wicks burn quickly. Try suspending them in lanterns to protect them from the wind. We strongly recommend using uplighting. They drastically transform an environment and create a dance atmosphere. Hanging lights include paper lanterns, chandeliers, and Christmas lights.

Wine barrels are relatively inexpensive, can help your wedding go green, and there is no end to the ways in which they can be used!  Here are a few of the ideas we came up with:

Barrel Backdrop 

A wine barrel backdrop is a good way to fill space and turn a plain wall into a focal point.  The backdrop, used behind the head table or at the end of the aisle, brings focus to the front of the room and can also provide a great option for photos!

Wine Barrel Tables

Using wine barrels to create tables adds beauty over a traditional table and requires less decoration as the intricacies and character of the barrels provide much of the visual appeal.  Creating a bar or cocktail hour appetizer table are two great options.

Barrels as Décor

If looking to use fewer barrels, their use in place of small tables on which to place décor, or even as place card tables, works beautifully.

Additionally, wine barrels used in place of pillars can be an inexpensive, rustic-chic way to usher in the bride and groom.

Wooden Guestbook

The last idea in our post is the use of a wine barrel as an alternate to the traditional guestbook.  Brides and grooms are becoming more creative with ways in which to remember their special day and those who joined to celebrate alongside them.  A wine barrel guestbook will remain a tangible memory and can be incorporated into the décor of the newlyweds’ home!

3. Floating Food

1. Coral Pink

Coral is popping up everywhere this season. You’ve seen it everywhere in fashion, from coloured jeans to handbags. This colour is easily incorporated into your wedding. Just think of how many desserts will complement this colour scheme! After picking out your coral candies, cupcakes, and macaroons, consider coral colored french-tipped nails. This is a great wedding trend for bridesmaids.

2. Mint Green

This classic colour is coming back in full force. This colour pairs perfectly with a vintage, whimsical, or romantic themed wedding. Try pairing mint with burlap fabric, mason jars, and hydrangeas for a vintage feel. These soft, natural hues work well together. 3. Citron Yellow

Spring is all about bright colours, and citron yellow is just that, BRIGHT. It brings excitement and joy to any wedding. Add some extra energy with sugar! Everyone loves lemonade, candy bars, and cupcakes. For outdoor or tent weddings, consider using yellow paper lanterns! They’ll brighten up the space by adding a pop of colour. 4. Tangerine Tango

Tangerine tango is another exciting wedding colour. This colour gives you the luxury of using exotic flowers in your floral arrangements. Some flowers in this color include birds of paradise, pincushion protea, ginger, and orchids. To tone down an orange colour scheme, consider using an ombre design, where the colours slowly fade.

Flowers can have a great impact on the feel of an event.  Picking flowers that work with the event’s colour palette is doable for most hosts, but a choice on flower type may prove more difficult.

Here are some tips from us at The Event Firm Inc. when it comes to flower selection:

Simple Flowers

Simple flowers often have a discernible number of symmetrical pedals and are themselves often symmetrical.  Tulips or daisies are two of the simpler flower types that can help compliment simple themed décor or add that touch of simplicity to a more detailed event.

Elegant Flowers

Characteristics of elegant flowers include a single blossom, tall stalk and slender overall blossom shape with smooth curved lines.  Commonly used flowers that posses and air of elegance are calla lilies, orchids and irises.

Whimsical Flowers

Whimsical flowers are often delicate, with ruffled pedals and multiple blossoms per stalk.  Baby’s breath used by itself has a very whimsical feel to it.  A whimsical flower lends itself to a more natural, earthy feel.

Romantic Flowers

Romantic flowers often have spherical blossoms with many overlapping pedals.  Roses have a reputation that precedes them when one sets out to find a romantic flower, but the peony is a suitable substitute that exudes some romance of its own!

The black & white colour palette has been admired for years in the world of decor. It has played an integral role throughout history in all elements of the fashion, interior design and fine art world. Why? Well, because it can be clean, modern, simple, elegant and expensive. With that said, however, it can also bring a touch of old world sophistication with a vintage hollywood flare. Depending on how you pair the colours and whether you choose an accent, you can get a gothic-inspired look all the way to a “Gone With The Wind” Southern American feel. This is one flexible colour palette! Take it where you want it to go!

1. Attire

• The Bride: Let’s admit it ladies, this is the number one thing that we think about the second that we get engaged…besides actually getting married that is!   There are so many options for incorporating black into your wedding attire. You can be more conservative and just add black accessories such as a headpiece, gloves and a belt or you can go all out with bold accents of black on your dress. • The Girls: There are so many incredible options out there for bridesmaids in this colour palette and the bonus is that, NO ONE will complain about wearing a black dress! It is versatile, easy to match, wearable and you can mix and match styles according to body shape. You can shop for these at a wedding dress store or simply hit the mall! It’s no fuss, easy and accessible. Besides, everyone looks great in black!

• The Boys: Now let’s not forget about the boys! I don’t see there being much complaint about this colour palette here either. You can keep it traditional and have all the men in black suits and white shirts or you can spice it up and have the groom in a white suit and all the men in black suits or vice versa. This look is classic, sophisticated and Oh So Sexy! Hell, why not have some fun with it and include some funky top hats?

2. Desserts
Everyone loves a good wedding day dessert, whether it’s cake, pastries or a candy table! We have mentioned this several times in the blogs but if you missed it: Number One Tip -  incorporate your colour palette into your desserts. 3. Table and Hall Decor
This is where we can really rock your world! Go as funky or as conservative as you like. We can add flowers, feather boas, lighting, accent colours, etc.! Go for a black (club-feel) or a white (clean, fresh-feel) table cloth and accessorize accessorize accessorize!

Summer weddings can easily go simple by taking advantage of the innate beauty of the outdoors.  An outdoor setting often requires much less ‘dressing up’ and can save time and money.  An outdoor setting also lends itself to more simple, natural, and DIY, décor!

Our blog on mason jars, ‘Mason Jar Wedding Décor’, highlighted the multifaceted use of mason jars as décor.  This idea fits perfectly with the idea of an outdoor rehearsal dinner and promotes simple elegance.

Stained mason jars can add a little extra something and help tie in wedding colours.  Etsy offers jars of all colour and sizes but we also love the DIY option of painting mason jars with Vitrea Glass Paint.  The paint comes in lots of colours!

Simple Timing
